Historic venues make great film and TV locations, and filming can provide venues with valuable income and publicity.
Spencer & Fry understands the restrictions of the historic properties, as well as the needs of a production crew. Working in partnership with venue staff and location managers, we negotiate ways of making sure the shoot is a rewarding experience for all and doesn’t damage historically important interiors and objects.

TV productions include: The Crown(Netflix), Royal Recipes (BBC), Taboo(BBC), Action Team(ITV), and Trust(FX).
Undergoing disruptive projects such as building works and refurbishment or housing exhibitions can present risk for historic interiors and collections but is something that Spencer & Fry can help manage. Specifically, our team have widespread experience gained with organisations such as the National Trust and English Heritage working to ensure the safety of collections throughout these types of projects.
Our team provide tailored solutions according to requirements, being involved in some or all stages of major works and projects, operating as lead or alongside our Clients to ensure collections are protected throughout the duration of the disruption.
In the case of refurbishment works, we can be involved from the beginning, assisting with the removal of collections and installation of protection, for the duration of the work guiding and liaising with contractors, all the way through to reinstating collections when the work has been completed.
For exhibitions, Spencer & Fry can be pivotal in ensuring the environment is suitable before any collections arrive and throughout to monitor and safeguard objects. We can advise and report on condition and have significant experience in understanding the optimum display environments to ensure loan, insurance and Government Indemnity Scheme requirements are met.
