Historic venues make great film and TV locations, and filming can provide venues with valuable income and publicity.
Spencer & Fry understands the restrictions of the historic properties, as well as the needs of a production crew. Working in partnership with venue staff and location managers, we negotiate ways of making sure the shoot is a rewarding experience for all and doesn’t damage historically important interiors and objects.
Film productions include: Transformers: The Last Knight, Victoria and Abdul, Crooked House Wonder Womanand Phantom Thread.
TV productions include: The Crown(Netflix), Royal Recipes (BBC), Taboo(BBC), Action Team(ITV), and Trust(FX).
At Spencer & Fry we understand the desire and need to increase knowledge amongst our Clients’ employees to be able to manage historic collections and objects on a daily basis. It isn’t always practical or viable to employ external parties on a regular basis and in-house capability can be crucial in preserving collections day to day. As a result, we offer bespoke training in all areas of preventive conservation to give Clients and their teams the confidence and skills to look after their collections moving forward.
We have provided valuable training on collections care, conservation cleaning, emergency planning and response, environmental control, insect pest management as well as training on how to mitigate risks from hosting events in historic houses and filming in heritage locations.
